Switzerland Gear List

Gregory Z-30 Pack

Gregory Z-30 Pack

With our 3 week Swiss mountain biking trip only 80 odd days away thoughts have turned to getting our gear sorted.  We still haven’t decided 100% if we’ll ride the Alpine Bike Route or if we’ll ride at various spots in Switzerland and take transit between them.  One thing we have decided is that we are going ultra light.  For us that means all our gear has to either be worn, hang off the bike or be in a 28L day pack.

I’ll be wearing a Gregory Z-30 pictured above and Kurt will be using a Deuter Furura 28. Since we may be riding with our packs on most of the time we want to keep the weight as low as possible while still being comfortable.  We’ll be using large seat bags and hopefully some sort of Gas Tank bag from Eric @ Epic Designs.

Here is my first crack at a gear list:

[P] = pack,  [SB] = seatbag,  [GT] = gas tank,  [W] = wear, bold text = group stuff only one person will carry

If you have enough seatpost, it makes a good place to store your duct tape. Just wrap it around the post – this saves valuable bag space.

My seatpost goes up and down all day during the ride so I can’t store duct tape there and I use these mini duct tape rolls that take very little room in the first place.

Great suggestion though!

Hey Vik, I read this book a few years back. It was about taking the white lines on the maps and he was doing it in the alps. http://www.amazon.ca/Raising-Bar-Integrity-Passion-Business/dp/0787973653 Good read, have you thought of the Selle Atomica saddle yet? I was at NAHMBS and saw the saddles and was quite impressed. VIk, you should have gone you would really have liked the show. Keep an eye out for the next Momentum they should have a spread on it.

Thanks Brian…I’ve got a SA saddle on my Nomad! Great product….=-)

I’ve seen the Shimano electric shifters in person….they work great…time will tell if they catch on or not.

Thanks for the links!
